Hi :) I'm pippibean! I helped design some graphics and things when the team was set up.

Nobody is really sure what is going on right now with the team - but I'll tell you what I know!
Chryssy - the team leader (kraftychik.etsy.com), who started & ran the team, hasn't been active or in touch for a very, very long time. I've tried contacting her but haven't heard anything! As far as I know, she is the only member with access to the team e-mail account, etc.

I'm not sure where we go from here... if anybody knows anything or has any thoughts or ideas, please leave a comment below.

Would you, the members, or prospective members, think it is best to close this as an inactive team, and restart a Kawaii team with a new leader? If so, any volunteers?

Just a note for everybody who's signed up recently to be members... Chryssy, our team leader still seems to be away for a while. I don't know if she's checking new applications whilst she's away, but I think it could take a little while for you to be accepted and added to the member directory! Keep patient!

Somebody has asked for buttons to go on our members blogs - they aren't available yet as far as I know - I think Chryssy needs to do a "html" thing with them, but here's a sneak preview of what they might look like:

What A Team Is Good For ???

A lot of people are asking me what the purpose of a Street Team is and I'd like to briefly go over this topic.

Depending on the level of commitment from its members, a Team can be powerful engine of support, networking and marketing, according to Etsy's Street Team Guidelines.

I've never been part of a Street Team before partly because I didn't see anything related to Kawaii and partly because I'm not yet familiar with all the Etsy features & regulations.

But as they say, "Where there's a will, There's a way" and as I made my way to the Etsy forums and asked dozens of questions, I realized that there's no better time than the present.

Our Team can be whatever we want it to be but let me tell you what I hope to get out of it.

I would like KCST to become a network of caring folks, who can willingly share their skills with fellow members and help promote each others shops! Etsy is not just a "marketplace of individuals but it is an interconnected and diverse artistic community"; and in a thriving community people need one another to succeed!

As a Team of people who love Cuteness, we will need to devise fun activities to share with each other in order to make the learning more enjoyable. We will be able to set up chat sessions, hold classes or do instructional videos & workshops as well as learn how to use some of the tools & resources available on the internet, which will help us become successful crafters & sellers. And we can do all this for FREE just by relying on each other's friendship and common goals.

Ultimately, the members of a Team set the pace and decide how much they want to accomplish, so it will up to each one of us to contribute to this Team to make it successful.

What We Need:

We need 1 Project Manager. This person will be in charge of organizing & setting up our activities & events, posting the requirements & deadlines on this blog (which serves as our "club house"), and picking the best times & date(s) for future events. Voting members will choose the best times & dates and the Project Manager will be able to set activities based on this determination. The Project Manager will also need to brainstorm ideas for contests, activities and Team projects and will also keep summaries of contest results, prizes won and all Team happenings. The Project Manager is our Appointment Setter, Organizer & Secretary and keeper of minutes at meetings.

We need 2 Moderators. Each Moderator will take turns conducting chats, classes and workshops AND update the content of our blog page. Chat topics will be decided via member voting, which then the Project Manager will set the date & time (via member voting) and the Moderator(s) will oversee these sessions and make sure we cover the given materials in a timely fashion without wasting time or going off topic. The Moderators will have the ability to save each session so they can refer to it at a later date. The Moderators are our Conductors and Guides who make sure we complete our projects and use our time wisely (since most of us don't have a lot of free time to begin with!)

We need a Web - Graphic Designer. This person will have full control of our blog’s dashboard and will be in charge of modifying the color, design & layout; make any banners, avatars, grab badges we may need; maintain & update the blog page and turn it into a truly adorable Kawaii site! The Designer will coordinate with the Moderators & Project Manager in the event they need specific elements added, such as a photo slide show, polls or even a newsletter and anything else that may require specific HTML or JavaScripts. The Designer is our Decorator & Tech Geek person who will backup our site and ensure it runs smoothly. The Decorator will always remember that Cuteness is the first thing we need to see when we visit or club house!

The Administrator is usually the person credited with having the start-up concept. It's the person who has done most of the research, finds out answers to important questions pertaining to Team operations, knows where to go & who to contact at Etsy and functions as the liaison officer between Etsy & the members of the Team. The Administrator is the Captain of our Team but that doesn't mean that the Administrator will micro-manage every aspect of the Team's activities. Member-voting will be a very important aspect in making this Team balanced & productive. When voting alone is not enough or critical decisions need to be made, the Administrator will be able to resolve any problems with his or her final authority and discretion. {I am holding this position at the present time.}

Note: As soon as we create & submit our banner to Etsy we will be recognized as an OFFICIAL Team! The sooner we get members into these key positions the sooner we will be able to schedule our first meeting and get to meet each other!

So please let me know who would like to do what and remember that the Team banner is a Team effort! I’ll make a sample too, and when we get at least 3 we can all vote on which one we’ll keep!

Profile: Our Team goals are to share & spread as much Kawaii Cuteness as possible, especially through the items we sell at our Etsy shops. Kawaii Cuteness is a very popular phenomenon that has swept across the world and includes anything that is small, adorable, playful, colorful, and happy.

Requirements: There are 2 basic requirements for membership:

First, your items must fall in 3 or more of the following categories:

-small
-glittery
-shiny
-adorable cartoon characters (not marvel or dc type)
-bright colors
-food items w/ faces
-household items w/ faces
-pastel colors
-may contain ruffles
-contains ribbons or bows
-small animals w/ cute personalities
-representing the Manga & Anime styles
-lovable, charming, sweet but not old-fashioned (i.e. not Curious George)
-extreme cuteness
-big expressive eyes
-exemplifies innocence, cheerfulness, optimism
-is never dark, black, gloomy or bad (i.e. not Miss Scary Mary or Ruby Gloom)
-girly-glam but not slutty or trashy (i.e. no females sucking lollipops, or big breasts in a tiny bikini)
-youthfulness
-hearts, stars, smiley faces, flowers
-colorful & happy
-fantasy done w/ harmony, beauty, sweetness
-nature items w/ faces (trees, clouds, sun, etc.)
-mascots of cutes include Hello Kitty, San-X, Pokemon and Chibi characters
-Kawaii deriving mostly from Japanese influences, and not so much from Western pop culture (although Happy Bunny, Tweety and Tinkerbell are the U.S. version of cute!)

Second, your shop must carry at least 3 Kawaii items at all times and 1 must be displayed in the featured section! Whether you sell crafting supplies, fabric, or art, you must pledge to carry 3 & display 1 Kawaii items!

Once these requirements are met we will be extremely happy to have you join the Kawaii Cuteness Street Team!
